We built The Landlord Mate because we hated the idea of losing certificates in email folders. But we also hated the idea of insecure document storage. Here's exactly how we protect everything you upload.
Every technical decision we've made has security in mind. Your documents are yours — we're just the safest place to store them.
We use Supabase with Row Level Security (RLS) enabled. That's a technical way of saying: you can only ever see your own properties and documents. No other landlord — not even accidentally — can access your data.
All data in transit is protected by TLS 1.3 — the same standard used by online banking. Your documents are also encrypted at rest on our servers. Encrypted in, encrypted out, encrypted at rest.
Your account data and documents are stored on Supabase servers in London, UK, with row-level security so only you can access your own records. A small number of trusted providers — Stripe for payments, Anthropic for the Ask Mate AI assistant, and others — process data on our behalf under UK GDPR-compliant safeguards. We use Stripe for all subscription payments. We never see, handle, or store your card details — not even temporarily. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified, the highest level of payment security. We simply receive a "payment succeeded" or "payment failed" signal.
Your account is protected with industry-standard authentication. Passwords are never stored in plain text. We use Supabase Auth, which handles credential management securely so we never have direct access to your password.
The Landlord Mate Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent data protection regulator, as required by law for any business processing personal data. You can verify our registration at ico.org.uk.
We're building a full document audit trail — showing when documents were uploaded, shared, and viewed. Giving you and your agent complete accountability and peace of mind.
This is important. If you upload a tenancy agreement that contains a tenant's name and address — or any document with tenant details on it — you are sharing that tenant's personal data with us.
